Fly to Delhi.
Arrive Delhi and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon optional sightseeing of New Delhi. Overnight stay Delhi.
Morning flight to Paro and transfer to Uma Paro, spending sometime settling into your new surroundings. Afternoon sightseeing of Paro town and a temple visit.
Drive to Uma Punakha via Thimphu and Dochu La pass. Take an immersive tour tof Thimphu city taking in some of the major attractions. After leaving Thimphu, the drive to Punakha is spectacular, winding snake-like up the 3,000m-high mountain pass of Dochu La, offering views to 108 chortens (Buddhist shrines), forests of cluttering prayer flags and, on a clear day, sweeping views of the Himalayan range. First of three nights in Uma Punakha.
Full day of exploration through the lush Punakha Valley- a short walk across farmhouses and rice paddies to reach Chimmi Lhakhang, visit to the 300-year-old Punakha Dzong and a gentle walk through homesteads and farmland to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a shrine recently built by the royal family.
Drive back to Uma Paro via Dochula pass revisiting the Himalayan views, driving through the apple orchards and rice paddies. Spend the rest of the day in this tranquil setting of Uma Paro or opt to try your hand at archery, Bhutan’s national sport.
Explore Paro Valley including a hike to the Taktsang ‘Tiger’s Nest’Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most important pieces of architecture.
