Amankora Thimphu is a luxury retreat located amidst blue pine forest in the upper reaches of the Thimphu Valley. The retreat is ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of the Kingdom’s main commercial centre and yet has easy access to the capital’s sights and shopping areas. The resort’s dzong-inspired architecture incorporates whitewashed stone buildings accessed through an enclosed arrival courtyard.
The Amankora Thimphu has 16 suites accomodated in two housing blocks. Suites combine a bedroom and a lounge with a window banquette offering views across a landscaped courtyard, or of the stream and pine forest. The interior features a King size Bed, a reading chair and a traditional bukhari positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom. The suite’s interior features wood panelling and chocolate brown walls. The spacious bathroom opens from the bedroom and provides twin vanities, separate shower and toilet, hanging space and a terrazzo-clad bath.
The restaurant at Amankora Thimphu offers Western, Bhutanese and Thai cuisine. Featuring wood-panelled walls with soaring ceilings and an outdoor dining deck providing a view of the nearby stream and surrounding forest, the restaurant is a gourmet’s delight with a perfect ambience for a leisurely meal.
The luxury Spa featuring three treatment rooms (two single and one double), a steam room is a must. The spa signature treatment is a Hot Oil Head Massage, based on the ancient healing system of Ayurveda. Warmed coconut oil nourishes the hair and scalp, while the back, neck and shoulders are massaged to increase relaxation.
