Why House has a total of eight well-appointed rooms. The six spacious and luxurious suites are spread across two separate buildings whilst two cottagey cabanas overlook the paddy fields. Set in lush gardens, facilities include an open-sided living and dining pavilion with bar (added in late 2016), an elegant lounge and a jade-green swimming pool. This country-style hotel attracts couples, families and groups, who adore its relaxed, home-from-home ambience. Each guestroom is elegantly designed, and the classic-colonial ebony and ivory-hued interior and exterior living and dining areas are at once sumptuous, comfortable and refined.
Families are more than welcome at Why House. Special meals for children can be prepared upon request. The pool and gardens provide lots of space for running around, whilst interconnecting rooms are available. Babysitters can also be arranged with prior notice.
Meals are served in the garden pavilion, on your own verandah, or by the pool. Facilities include a large salt water swimming pool set amidst tropical gardens; Ayurvedic and Aromatherapy massages, and yoga class if booked. On several evenings special events including traditional folk dance and music take place. Why House also has a tuk-tuk for guests wishing to explore the surrounding area. The beaches of Thalpe are a short distance away, as well as neighbouring Galle.
