Today a sunrise take in spectacular views of the Kanchenjunga at Tiger Hill.. Later visit Mountaineering Institute, Himalayan Zoo and the Tibetan Self–Help Centre. Afternoon, optional ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway to visit the Monastery at Ghoom.
Today travel to West Sikkim enroute stopover at Gyalsing, to visit Pemayangtse Monastery. Continue on to nearby Pelling. Overnight stay here.
Morning drive up to Gangtok. Your journey includes enroute sightseeing at Tashiding where a steep walk up the hill takes you to spectacular views of this famous monastery; and climb to Ravangla, to take in panoramic views of Mt Kabru and Mt Marsing. Then descend to the Teesta River passing through paddy fields and small villages before arriving in Gangtok. First of two nights here.
Morning visit Rumtek Monastery and then take a scenic walk across terraced fields to the Lingdum Monastery from where it is a short drive back to Gangtok.
Today continue east and cross into Bhutan to the small border town of Phuentsholing. The main overland entrance to Bhutan, Phuentsholing is a fast developing town at the base of the Himalayan foothills. Overnight stay here.
Today a six hour drive takes you to the Bhutanese capital Thimphu – an interesting drive taking you through the mountains, the dense tropical teak and bamboo forest, characteristic of these lower altitudes, before ascending higher towards Thimphu and its more Spartan alpine vegetation.
This morning enjoy some sightseeing in Thimphu including visit to National Memorial Chorten, National Library and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum – a painting school that teaches Bhutan’s traditional art
