Meet your transfer driver for a three hour drive to the Cultural Triangle enroute you visit Dambulla caves. Spend two days taking in ancient sights of the famous cultural triangle. First of two nights in Sigiriya.
With your private guide, visit the magnificent rock fortress of Sigiriya- a UNESCO heritage site. Be prepared to climb the 1200 steps to the top, admiring the views and the impressive frescoes as you go along. Later in the day, you may also want to hire bikes to cycle around the lake and go off the beaten track and visit the countryside villages.
Today back on the road for a drive to Kandy. You will reach Kandy in time for lunch. After lunch, take a walking tour in Kandy and explore its many sites, including the Temple of the Sacred Tooth and the Royal Botanical Gardens. The gardens are beautifully laid out and are perfect for youngers kids to let steam off. You will be able to take part in a traditional Kandyan dance performance and a tour of the local artisanal craftsmanship and jewelry stores. The city offers plenty of dining options so why not try a local restaurant famous for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Overnight stay in Kandy.
Your driver will transfer you to Hatton train station. Today take one of the most spectacular train journeys through tea covered hills to travel to Hatton. First of three nights at tea bungalow accommodation.
Today visit the tea factory and stroll through the plantations.
Get up early (as viewpoints fill up quickly) to admire Ella’s famous Nine Arch bridge. Your guide will take you to the perfect viewpoint. Go for an easy hike up the Little Adam’s Peak during late afternoon to watch glorious sunset unfold. You will be rewarded with 360 degrees views overlooking the giant Ella Rock and Ella Gap towards Udawalawe National Park, perfect for photos.
Your driver will transport you to Yala National Park for your safari adventure. First of two nights at the safari camp.
Yala is known for its leopard population and also teeming with other wildlife. Your camp is an excellent base from which to explore the park, and there will be time for both afternoon and morning safaris.
With your chauffeur-guide, take a three hour drive towards the Galle coast. First of two nights at your beach hotel.
Spend a peaceful few days on Sri Lanka’s south coast with wide stretches of white sand and swaying palm trees. Take a dip in the Indian Ocean and relax. Children will have plenty of options for fun beach and nearby activities such as surfing, snorkelling, cycling, or learning traditional Sri Lankan dance.
